Mayan Calendar 2012 - End of the World
Do you think that the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012 indicates that the end of the world is coming?
Do you guys know of any good websites that contain information about the Mayan calendar and the 2012 scenario?
I found this:

Re: Mayan Calendar 2012 - End of the World
I really have no idea at al if 2012 will be the end of the world or not, there are so many different opinions about this subject, about the way the Mayan calendar should be read, I'm totally confused about it, actually.
There are indeed a lot of things stirring the world this day in age: strange weather, floods, earthquakes, riots in Northern Africa, recesions in Europese countries, ... but I don't know if there are more than before or we just know about these events a lot quicker due to better information possibilities (internet to name one).
What I do believe is that, if it indeed will be the end, there will be not a lot we can do to prevent it and I wonder if a gouvernment (any gouvernment) would have actual data or proof that the world will come to its end they would inform the public. I think that would cause a lot of panic and misery.
Maybe we should try and live our lives like it is indeed the last year we will exist (carpe diem) (not to the extreem, of course
) and everything that comes after the 21st of December 2012 will be a nice extra.
Some websites concerning 2012:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (this one has a good explanation about the calendar itself)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (this one focuses more on it being the end of an era, a change in 'consience')
P.S. : I took the test to see my destiny when the world would end on the site Dana told us about and apparently I'm going straight to hell!

Yes, live 2012 as if it could be the end of the world... travel the world, party hard, sleep with sexy European men, force Keanu Reeves to marry you in Vegas after getting hammered, blow all your money on a HUGE AWESOME sound system and ring in the new year with the sound system in the middle of Mongolia... then wake up on January 1, 2013 and realize you're totally screwed LOL

Re: Mayan Calendar 2012 - End of the World
I am just so amused that The X-Files sorta predicted an apocalypse in 2012 first. Maybe the Mayan end-of-the-world event will involve aliens! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
All I know is that if we survive Dec. 21, I'm finally going to drag my friend to Times Square on New Years Eve and party my ass off in the streets! (I've never been to Times Square to watch the ball drop despite living in the Big Apple my whole life so it should be interesting to say the least ‒ I'm assuming there will be even more people than usual with a similar idea to mine. Maybe I'll meet a cute guy to kiss at midnight!

LOL, I hope you will have luck finding a cute guy to kiss there, but I think, if it's possible for you, that you shouldn't wait till Dec. 21 is over to party your ass off
, you should party your ass off every time you get the chance (and feel like it). I think that the end of the world wasn't predicted first in the X-files, but that they based their apocalyps-story on the finds of the Mayan calendar, but that's just my guess, (forgive me if I understand you wrongly)

Re: Mayan Calendar 2012 - End of the World
Most people think its not the end but the start of a new cycle:

I like to think, like gorgclaud, that the end of the Mayan Calender indeed isn't the end of the world, we all use a yearly calender and the world doesn't end each year on Dec. 31, we just hang a new calender on Jan. 1.
There is no end to the Mayan calendar. All there is is the end of one cycle. It is analagous to the situation on Dec 31, 1999 - the calendar simply roles over to the next day.
