Things I Love About The DSR

Post by Cassiopeia on Mon 19 Apr 2010, 03:42

What are some of your favorite moments between Doggett and Scully?

I'm thinking especially of the beginning of "Hellbound" when Reyes calls them both in very, very early in the morning for what, you know both D&S are thinking, is mumbo jumbo and they share a look.

When Doggett first arrives he says "A little late to be looking for a sitter. What's so pressing?", this got the SHODDS members (the oldest and still sometimes active DSR mailing list) so excited, it's nearly 2am, both he and Scully were called to work by Reyes, his mind is on Scully and how hard it was for her to find a babysitter... nearly everyone on SHODDS was convinced that Doggett and Scully had been in each others company when they got the call from Monica to come into work. Then in the same scene when he and Scully first see each other, they share this look like they've talked about (before leaving in their own separate vehicles and arriving at different times so ppl wouldn't know of their being together) how ridiculous it is to be there at Quantico so early in the morning, and they play this togetherness throughout the entire scene where Monica tells them about this case.

What I love about this scene is that in s9 Reyes always seemed to be in the way, always there with D&S when there could have been some brilliant DSR moments, but despite that the writers (and the actors/directors who interpreted the written word) were able to put some really sweet and really subtle DSR moments in episodes, despite the fact that Reyes is there.

It's such a wonderful Doggett/Scully moment in "Hellbound", in season 9, and one where Reyes is pestering them with a case that both D&S don't think is worth leaving home, and the baby, in order to go to work so early.

I even have a DSR moment in "Daemonicus" that happens when Reyes is standing right next to them. I'll post about that a bit later.

Things I Love About The DSR

I love that Doggett so quickly took to Scully and stood by her side through thick and thin to protect her and be her loyal partner and friend.

the thing that I try to emphasise on in my vids, the thing that always makes me adore them as a couple, the thing that makes me hot when i watch season 8, the thing that makes me shake my head at how right TPTB got it at the time, is how sexy it is for a man like Doggett to clearly fall in love with Scully.

Against all the odds, against his position as the other man,the green in him as the new guy in the X Files unit, the man who doesnt believe in the paranormal, the man who stands up to her, the man who lets her stand up to him, the manly man, the guys guy...he then become emotionally melted, vulnerable, wounded , supporting her to anyone that doesnt support her. Focusing on her concerns way way WAY over his.

When I watch Via Neg last night and i love that phone convo at the begining - "You alright?" He is so straight with her and so personal, i love it.

Their whole relationship in that ep is very strong esp when they arent with eachother for most of it.

He covers for her to Kersh,
she helps him by asking the Lone G to help,
and calls him up and says hes a good agent and he should get his rest.

Then in his dream he is calling her up about the case, saying he isnt sure its over. Confiding in her like he does in Empedecules.

in Surekill - Doggett walks towards Scully, leans in,and whispers in her ear as he passes her "Call in Clark Kent." - Massive grin on Scullys face - i would have loved to have seen her face just as he was doing that. OMG

Claudine, what you said... yes. What you said is not only one of the best parts of the relationship between Doggett and Scully, it nearly defines the John Doggett character.

re: "Via Negativa" - I think one of my favorite parts is when she calls him and tells him that he's a good agent. I love that she takes the extra time in her life (and her current concerns for her unborn child) to pick up the phone and talk to him. This shows very much HOW much she cares for him.

re: "Surekill" - *squee* "Call in Clark Kent", OMG! What a flirt! I'm pretty sure that her facial expression as he did that was something of pleasant surprise that he just flirted with her.

"Medusa" --I could swear that as Doggett is going behind the curtain and his gown falls open, Scully looks at his butt...
OMG biggrin

She does. That's why he turns his front back towards her and she looks down with that "caught" look on her face, and why he gives a little grin before stepping behind the curtain to change into his clothes. Also why Scully slips and says "butts" in the conversation following that moment wub

Yeah, he's straightforward with her, right from the get-go. I can't remember exactly verbatum but he even says that he doesn't know anything about the paranormal.
And he's the first guy to come to her defence if she's being attacked.

Smthg "all I know about the paranormal is that men are from Mars, and women are from Venus" LOL That's in "Patience".

There's nothing more adoring about him than when he's quick to defend her. I love that.

Literally and figuratively....

I love how he holds her hand when they're running from the ship at the end of "NIHT"...just don't get me started on how I find it hard to believe that she's already moving around that well only three days after giving birth...... rant

Haha! The magic of TV. Also her hair grew so much over a weekend (same with Reyes). It bothers me so much the lack of continuity. I don't have kids, but a friend of mine does and let me tell you that even a week after giving birth to her first kid she could barely walk without a limp. Scully is amazing!

Though, it was a nice opportunity for Doggett and Scully to hold hands :) *sighs* Just another one of those moments in season 9 that convinces me that they could have had a happy life together.

Exactly. I'm so glad there's DSR fanfic out there (and that you are actively still writing, I've put myself on a little hiatus from writing, I do have a long DSRy story that I've been working on since 2003 that I want to finish sometime soon).

I wonder if Shippers feel we are contradicting ourselves when we hate Shipper crap but want DSR lovin'...

The difference to me is with Doggett and Scully it would be sexy interaction between them, not smoulchy (cant imagine any baseball lessons between them, their relationship would be much more mature)

The thing about Doggett and Scully together is that its much more genuine to me. Its not corny, its sexy as hell. Maybe cause its kinda wrong, that makes it more sexy! (Though i do find the Hips Before Hands thing sexy). But you know what i mean...cant see Doggett doing that beating around the bush stuff if he had the chance. He would get to Scully through her heart first, I think.

(my husband was funny when we watched 731 together last night cause when Scully opens the lid to reveal the test subject people who were hiding under the floor, James, my husband said "those are the DSR fans, put away by Shippers!" ) .

I love Doggett/Scully because Doggett/Scully is what Doggett wants ♥ Also, way back in the day when eps were airing, Robert voiced support of the DSR to fans who then reported the conversation to the DSR group I was (and still am) on. He became an honorary of SHODDS after that :)

they are sexy. Simple

he whispers in her ear, she smiles.

They talk of a man who can see into another womans heart.

She leans over him as he looks at a computer screen

they want eachother sexually cant because of where Scully is in her life, so it would so wrong. But wrong is sexy!

Yes!

I love Doggett/Scully because if they had pursued a relationship, especially a physically intimate relationship, while Mulder was missing (and Scully is supposed to be involved with him), it would have been so wrong. I love Doggett/Scully because you can tell both of them had given it some thought and didn't let it happen out of respect for Fox Mulder.

god damn yes!! there was one thing in their way; Mulder. But it shows so much in their scenes together how attracted they are to eachother, which just makes it more sexy that they really shouldnt be thinking or feeling these things! Especially him. For her, its a given and not just cause Doggett is hot but cause she aint really with Mulder. But he would be stepping on Mulder's toes in some way here.

STEP ON THOSE GOD DAMN TOES BOY!

STOMP, not step, ON THOSE TOES, DOGGETT! STOMP AND DEMOLISH! LOL

A good romance story (in fiction) is always good when it's nearly forbidden. TPTB really should have done that (the big wusses - why start smthg when you aren't going to seal the deal, right?).

You're right though... the fact that neither of them made any big moves is so much sexier than what could have happened (unless we go by the story of your video, because I would have loved to have seen that play out on screen).

Well yeah, the unforbidden, the unrequitedness of their relationship is certainly more entertaining than the simple thing of them just getting together. But yes, like my vid, if they added some angst and some drama, some love triangle stuff it woulda been really really interesting and sexy.
