I can check the "Essence" script and see if it says anything, that's one of the original shooting scripts that I have :)

For the rest of your comment, ITA. cheer Especially this part:

When I say that MSR fans dont see DSR cause they dont understand what romance is, I have known and know a lot of MSR fans who love DSR, but its the hardcore ones who refuse to believe there was ANYTHING between Doggett and Scully - and if they cant see ANYTHING but can think of Mulder and Scully as romantic, through all of their horrible depressing scenes together, then in my opinion, they dont know what love is! Thats what I meant. And thats my opinion.

Nailed it!

Oh please do. I dunno if the script would say such a thing though, would it? Maybe GA decided or the director told her to do it? I dunno. I think GA did it persoally, but i dont have any proof!!!!! blush

Cheers Luv!!! smile

Their narrowmindedness and meanness is very frustrating. So getting moments like this means a lot and a smack the face to their stubborn ways!

Well, what they have is much more than "they" or some can see!! biggrin

I'll pull out the script sometime today and take a look. I'm going to guess that it's not scripted and it's something that Gillian added in the moment :)

Luvy, a MSR/DSR fan is rare, but I've known a few fans like that in my time online :)

Ok, I have two versions of the "Essence" script, this is the scene from March 19, 2001 (PINK) of the script, and it is exactly same in the April 5, 2011 (2nd BLUE) version of the script:

52 INT. FBI PARKING GARAGE - NIGHT

ANGLE ON THE BANK OF ELEVATORS

A set of doors opens. Krycek and Scully REVEALED inside. Exiting immediately, toward a waiting Doggett. Who is hustling them without question the moment they exit. Toward:

ANGLE ON THE WAITING FLEET SEDAN

Agent Reyes waits, ready to load Agent Scully in. Which is what she does. Moving with urgent, if quiet care to get Scully's pregnant body in the passenger seat. As Doggett and Krycek look on. Reyes moving around to get in behind the wheel now.

ALEX KRYCEK
Drive safely.

Agent Reyes slams the door shut and steps on the gas. Squealing away. As Krycek and Agent Doggett look on.

So that answers it, it was either Gillian's decision to hold Doggett/Robert's hand, or she was directed to do so by the episode's director, Kim Manners.

Well done on getting this from the script! Thank you!

Its defo not something that would be in the script. I think its all down to Gillian really! Totally somethng she would do. I think she knew her character loved Doggett in some way or another and was just behaving as Scully would!!

And leave it to Gillian to know her character better than the writer of that particular (craptastic other than the Arm Love moment and Krycek) episode.

You're welcome. I'm always happy to check original shooting scripts for possible Doggett/Scully moments that the writers intended (I only wish I owned all the scripts for season 8, but I don't - but I do have ALL the scripts for season 9).

I prefer "Existence" over "Essence" simply because there's more "important" information given in "Existence", and "Essence" has a baby shower and I loathe baby showers LOL

The Arm Love moment is one of the very few gems of "Essence" and is the reason why I watched the episode in this year's SoX rewatch LOL

Those eps have some exciting moments but script and plot wise its awful. Nothing happens really. And Mulder just acts annoying through-out. Theres too much Scully should be dealing with for the script to be right for her too. And I cant stand seeing a woman walk and look so good hours after giving birth. I know its TV but X Files used to be about realistic stuff once. Shame.
