Gillian Anderson and Robert Patrick (#9)

Who would have guessed that David Duchovny would eventually meet his
match? We're not sure how he thought of it, but X-Files creator,
Chris Carter, made a stellar casting call my landing Terminator 2
star Robert Patrick
as cynical Special Agent John Doggett. Picking
up with Anderson where Duchovny left off, Patrick's gritty
performance and chilling demeanor (not to mention his unwavering,
haunted gaze) has us hooked. Even early on in Patrick's run, the
underlying attraction between Doggett and Scully was evident.
And we
just love how the shoe is finally on the other foot for Scully, a
former skeptic who now finds herself trying to make Doggett a
believer in the paranormal.>>

Of course I found it posted to SHODDS back on September 8, 2001.

I didn't see any other new member requests come in this week other than Cinder's... what email would you have used to join? You have to have a Yahoo! account (I think).

Go ahead and join today, I'm on the list going through messages and can approve you asap :)

Ahh I found it!!!!!

Roadrunners site [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Top Ten Ideas of How Mulder's Absence Will Be Explained in Season 9

Author: Duchovnia (used with permission)
Source: DuchovnyForum

10. All characters will over-use the phrases, "You just missed him" and "He's in the bathroom..."

9. The "Mulder's on the cell phone" gimmick. Of course, we won't hear what he says, but good ol' Scully will fill us in...

8. Mulder goes back to Oxford to take some classes on Phoebe Green, uh, er, I mean criminology...

7. Krycek comes back from the dead and finally beats the crap out of Mulder, sending him into a coma for the entire season. Of course, what we'll see is well- strategically angled shots of Steve Kiziak from waayy, waayy far away. (Hey, no reason for DD's body doubles to loose their jobs...)

6. Did you think Diana was dead too? Nah. She comes back and whisks Mulder away on her broomstick to a secluded cabin in the woods, where she's been watching "The Wizard of OZ" repeatedly for months. Of course, we don't actually see this take place, but the episode does end with Fowley screeching, "I'll get you Dana Scully... and your little Doggett too!"

5. Mulder is hit on the head and wanders aimlessly around D.C. thinking he's an host of a TV game show. He's heard mumbling, "YOU ARE WEAKEST LINK...GOODBYE!" to all passing strangers who resemble Doggett & Reyes.

4. Scully gets a "Dear John" letter from Mulder saying he's run away to join Jim Rose's Side Show--adding that he will be billing himself as "Jim Jim, The Fish Hook Face Boy"...

3. He gets infected by the black oil and spends the season trapped in a missile silo somewhere in N. Dakota. (Hey, it's the 9th season--you don't expect the writers to think up anything original, do you?)

2. After discovering what Carter has in store for the season, Mulder convinces the aliens to abduct him again...

AND...THE #1 IDEA OF HOW MULDER'S ABSENCE WILL BE EXPLAINED IN THE 9TH SEASON IS...

WHAT? YOU WERE EXPECTING AN EXPLANATION? GEEZUS, HOW LONG HAVE YOU PEOPLE BEEN WATCHING THIS SHOW?!

crackup Some are just so LOL...No 6 is my favourite!!!!!!!!!

Any of those comments he makes now since the series ended about Doggett and Reyes I don't believe. I don't think that Robert truly believes that Doggett and Reyes were meant to get involved. I think he's just saying that so not to ruffle any of those very sensitive feathers among the Mulder/Scully ppl online. Taking in all that he ever said in support of Doggett/Scully... I seriously doubt that he really thought Doggett/Reyes was interesting or plausible. Plus then there's Spotnitz's psychoanalysis of John Doggett and his feelings for Scully:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I agree about the Reyes thing. It always throws me when he says something supportive of DRR. And i just think he went along with it because it kinda was forced and "made sense" in a typical way - and even at the time I was happy Doggett had someone whom fancied or loved him and went along with it, not knowing I was being manipulated into liking it...so he would have just gone along with it like anyone else....but I remember never really being particularly excited by it. It's like if you get some ice cream and you really want Fudge Brownie but all they have is Vanilla...you just go, okay, it's better than nothing but you will always choose Fudge Brownie if the choice comes up and again and it's the only flavour you really care for. And then I remember just not liking the reyes thing when I rewatched it later and then wanting Scully to bump into Doggett during the IWTB movie...so my heart will always be with DSR, like I am sure RP's heart is.

exactly

hell, there was even a time when i tried to read DRR fics just because i wanted to read more doggett stories (this was after the series ended, around 2003), but i read them and, i don't know if you've ever read or tried to get through any DRR fanfics, but none of the authors i read were capable of even touching the pure essence of the doggett character. they... it felt like they were forcing the two characters to be good together in their story even if that meant sacrificing trying to keep doggett as the doggett in both seasons 8 and 9 of the series. does that make sense? in those fics i read/tried to read, he wasn't the john doggett that i love, he was some kind of other character with doggett's name. i didn't like that so i stopped reading it and completely gave up trying to like drr even if that meant not being able to enjoy all things fanfic doggett online.

i'm quite content i dislike drr, i think i'd be disgusted with myself if i liked it LOL

it's like your analogy only... for me if i can't have the fudge brownie, i'm not going to have the vanilla ice cream. i'll just wait for the fudge brownie to come in smile

did you ever read my IWTB fanfic that was a deleted scene fic from the movie? "Falling Beautifully Out of Place"? It's one of the best doggett/scully-ish fics i've written smile I'll go post it in the fanfic section smile

here's a link to the fic here on SoX:

omgosh i wanna read that!

i agree about the ice cream now - it's just how i felt at the time of watching it.

there's something really gross about drr. its so unsexy it's replusive and wrong on so many levels and whenever he is around her he is not the "real" doggett in my opinion.

I would never EVER read a DRR fanfic. Not even if someone paid me. Absolutely no.

you are so lucky you chose to never try to give drr fics a try, they're terrible (and i tried out recommended stories and authors! so i was recommended the best of the best drr fics, and they were so terribly out of character just to hook them up)

there's smthg familial about doggett and reyes - and you know... reyes was adopted by a mexican family, so maybe she and doggett are siblings!

fwiw, i'm curious to see how you take to FRVS reyes. kristi and i wrote her before absolute hate toward the actual XF character set in. i haven't re-read any FRVS in a long while (just the finale ep at least once a year since 2009), and i still think i'll like her on FRVS. i actually adore her relationship with doggett in FRVS, i can't wait to get to those episodes! i'm aching for some FRVS doggett (and of course FRVS DSR)
