LOL crackup I'm dying here laughing at some of the discussion messages in SHODDS during the hiatus after season 8's finale episode "Existence", there was talk about how some SHODDSisters stole $20 from 'shippers and used it to shove down the crotch of a Doggett clone stripper! LOL OMG! Such good times.

Flamed for Doggett

Dear SHODDSisters--

A few weeks ago I came to the conclusion that to be flamed for a piece of
Doggett fic was a *good* thing. To paraphrase what someone else said, if a
story or a comment makes enough of an impact that people go to the trouble
of flaming, you must be doing something right!

So, with that in mind...here are a few graphics I made up as a badge of
honor for those who have come under special attack for their defense of
Doggett and the DSR.

Choose whichever one you want and display it with pride, but please, only if
you HAVE been flamed! I'm distributing these on the honor system, but since
this is a Doggett list, I assume that we can all act honorably just as he
would. ;-)

So, if you've been FLAMED FOR DOGGETT, don't be afraid to let the world
know. I'd give you all a Purple Heart if I could. ;-)

The DoggShip

As Chief Engineer, I have come up with a slick design
and construction of our ship.

Being that the ship is both seaworthy and spaceworthy,
the design is similar in appearance to the alien craft
Scully found in "Biogenesis." The outer hull is a
titanium hybrid, slightly modified from what is used
on the space shuttle, extremely durable yet malleable
when we must go to warp drives in space. It also
withstands iceberg crashes due to the tough pliable
nature of the titanium hybrid.

There is a inner layer of titanium bulkhead doors that
line the inside of the ship from the keel to D deck
and dually strengthened along the bow, that are
enabled when we are floating in water. If we should
strike any icebergs, (which is highly unlikely due to
the supreme SOSUS sonar system I stole from a Los
Angeles Class attack subamarine and is deemed
classified), the bulkhead doors will seal off the
outer hull to keep water from rushing inside.

The bridge is situated at the top of the craft,
circular in design with a plexiglass-crystal hybrid
dome etched with the DoggShip Insignia by diamonds.
The interior of the bridge is decorated in blue-violet
tones with the captain's chair in purple, situated
below a crystal skylight.

Engineering lies diametrically opposite to the bridge,
situated at the bottom of the ship. When in space,
the warp core is fueled by trilithuim crystals, giving
us a top warp speed of 15. The core can be covered by
a titanium shield that protects the warp engines when
the ship is seaworthy and then powered by a
state-of-the art nuclear propulsion system that has no
moving parts, so is very quiet and renders the
Doggship virtually undectable by shipper ships' sonar
and radar systems.

The officers' quarters lie on deck A of the ship,
right below the bridge. Each set of officer quarters
contains 2000 sq ft of living space with luxurious
creature comforts.

Deck B contains the other living quarters with similar
creature comforts, yet smaller in size (1500 sq ft of
space). Each living area contains its own food
translator wired to the Dogg Dish.

Deck C contains sickbay, a very large area adequate to
the needs of the ship, with doctor's offices (or Head
Nurse in our case) in the rear. The Psychiatrist's
office is located next to sickbay. On the other end
of Deck C is the cloning lab. In between is Security.

Deck D contains the expansive Lounge and the Holodeck,
the Weapons Closet, the Liberry, the Chapel, the Dogg
Dish, and the Translator's office.

Deck E holds the brig, the Workout Center, the WiB
training facility, and contains a secret
security-locked weapons hold.

If I've neglected anything, let me know soon so I can
put the finishing touches on our ship.

Hi guys!

I've been thinking about it, and I've decided to officially beg that whoever
is designing the DoggShip website please construct a little side page for
the chapel, so I have a place to keep the Holy DoggShip Hymnal when I finish
compiling it? I'd do it myself, but in order to have the time I'd have to
give up "Puppy Love," and I'm not doing that. :-)

Speaking of the Hymnal, I need all of you to contribute! DSR songs, Doggett
songs, Scully songs...basically anything that reminds you of one or both of
our heroes. :-) Most Hymnals I've read have about five hundred songs in
them...so we're a little short. ;-)

Here's what we *do* have (or will, if someone can find me the lyrics to all
of these), suggested by various people I've talked to:

*"Uninvited" by Alaniss Morrisette (sp?)
*"I'm a Believer" by the Monkees (courtesy of the "seriously Scully" promo
;-) )
*"Angel" by Sarah McLachlan
*"Kryptonite" by Three Doors Down
*"Full of Grace" by Sarah McLachlan
*"Dante's Prayer" by Loreena McKennitt
*"An Innocent Man" by Billy Joel
*"All About Soul" by Billy Joel
*"Feels Like Forever" by Joe Cocker
*"Turning Circles" by Sally Dworsky
*"Holding Out Hope to You" by Michael English
*"To Make You Feel My Love" by Bob Dylan, Billy Joel or Garth Brooks (choose
your favorite version)
*"If You're Gone" by Matchbox 20
*"Possession" by Sarah McLachlan
*"Bridge Over Troubled Waters" by Simon and Garfunkel
*"I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You" by Marc Antony and Tina Arena
*"Nobody Wants to Be Lonely" by Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera
*"Song for a Winter's Night" by Gordon Lightfoot
*"Tonight, and the Rest of My Life" by Nina Gordon
*"Then You Look at Me" by Celine Dion
*"In My Arms Again" by Michael W. Smith
*"To Love Again" by Lara Fabian
*"One" by U2
*"In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel

Hmm...that's more than I thought...but I'm sure we can come up with more.
:-)

D&S versus D&R

Ab-so-lutely. It's what my entire D-Shipperness is based on. ;-)

> and then look at him when he see Reyes, he
> look at her like oh it you.

Actually, I agree, but I have a theory about that that goes even farther. Writers and actors on the show have said that, though they haven't made anything canon yet, they play with the idea that D & R very likely had a "thing" once. I think that perhaps they *did*, and that what RP is playing when he's in scenes with Reyes is that their "thing" ended badly. It was complicated, it wasn't fun, and now when he sees her he just doesn't want to get into all THAT again.

Which makes the idea of a relationship between them on the show very unappealing for me. I don't wanna watch two former lovers bickering and trying to hash out their fucked up relationship. I want to see Doggett and Scully discovering each other for the first time. I want to see them going through that first flush of...*whatever* goes on when the other person is the answer to all your prayers. I don't see any great abiding, interrupted love between Reyes and Doggett, I just see two people who tried it once and it didn't work out, like a million of us go through every day. I don't need to watch that - I get enough of that crap in real life.

I think Doggett like Reyes as a friend but I can see a HANKY
PANKY with Scully YeAh ;-)
Clearly I see that , but actually I see even more.

Ooh! Looks like there may be some songs in this Hymnal that aren't on our own SoX DSR soundtrack!

cheer chicken dance

YAY!! Always listen to this and think of John and Dana!

And of course I made a DSR vid to this song, mainly a Roadrunners episology, one of my very early vids (so when I say early vids, i watch them and see a lot wrong with them! LOL) but, whats always made me think of them to this song, is not only the words and how great the 'feel' of this song is but also, just after I watched Roadrunners that night, i turned to a music channel and it was the 1st song that came on the channel. Then the next day, I went to Brighton for my Theory Driving Test and this song was JUST out to buy on single. It was fated. (Plus i bought a Morgan jacket that i liked the look of but mainly bought it cause the jacket was called Skully - Morgan named their items of clothing on the tags!!! )

When I hear now, its one of those songs that completely defies time and sends me right back to that exact time, feel and place in my life and images of what I saw at those moments come to me, scenes of John and Dana run through my mind, what I were wearing, the smells I smelt, the weather and the things I did, as well as how happy and excited I felt by DSR and my new back then. Its that kind of memory! Do you know what I mean?

After Roadrunners, I stayed up till 2am (with a 6am wake up the next day) to finish a tape I had started before the ep aired. I was completely inspired by the ep to finish the tape and I added this song to the tape (I recorded the vid and I had cables linked to my VCR to my stereo to copy video audio onto tape).

The tape was called the personally infamous Nice To Meet You Agent Doggett. I think I made 20 volumes of that title. I made a lot of tapes back in the day, cause i used to ride the bus everywhere and loved my Sony Walkman (which I still have!). I would have xfiles 'skits' or scenes between the songs. I had done it since 1995.

These Nice To Meet You Agent Doggett tapes were based on pure love of Doggett. His sexiness, coolnes and the DSR about him. They would start with Scully saying the title line, right before the 1st song.

Can I also reminise on this thing about this song? :

I used to work for a family as an Au Pair when season 8 was on and i lived with them. I was lucky enough to be allowed to go home when it was my 2 days off. So I always wanted to be off on a Thursday so i could go home and watch X Files on my own (the family watched it, but if I watched it with them, i could never cry, scream or cheer at it!)...

so Roadrunners was the 1st ep I saw on my own (I watched the 1st 3 at their house). And basically, every moment I could i watched this ep. And when I wasnt watching it, I used to play this song on my CD player over and over and over...no exaggeration! And with the rescue scene on mute on my VCR in my room.

I had a certain place where I would start the scene on mute and the song, and rewound it again and again. One night, I was doing this, and I was meant to go back to the Au Pairs home that night, to continue working, and as I was doing this song and scene thing, they called me and said I dont have to come back till the afternoon the next day!! YOU HAVE NO IDEA how happy I was to contnue watching this ep with this song! Hence why making that vid to this song and this ep was so huge to me!

I'll shut up now!

To me, with the line,

"I have been waiting for you all of my life" is so Dana - after all these years, to have come accross someone like John.

And "my body's longing to hold you" and "so why, why, why wont you let me love you?" is a so John.

Hahahaha! Classic!

Barbie at the Bat
By Melody Clark
(with deepest apologies to Ernest Lawrence Thayer for mangling his classic)

The outlook wasn't brilliant for the Mulder tribe that day;
The Dawg had done his job and brought our program back to stay.
And Duchovney finally split, but GA, our classy dame,
Said "I like the number 9 and think I'll carry on the game".

The tides of fawning shippers scarce believed their tiny ears
How could Dana Katherine Scully without her Spooky remain there!
They thought if only 'shippers spoke about their rage to poor CC --
They'd be the first tv fans in history to get their program OFF tv.

Doggett's Bitch preceded Spooky, and they two created SHODDS,
For they came to love the Doggett for his cool grace and hot bod;
Then more fans beheld the fact that Dana Scully banged John's gong,
And they knew the noble Dawg was meant for Scully all along.

The SHODDS numbers quickly climbed, with new believers in the pair,
Up the Yahoo ranks it rose when e'er a Mulder episode would air;
But the 'shippers were undaunted, they hoped FOX would spell the end,
For the show they claimed to love, methinks we doth can see a trend.

But FOX had seen the ratings...the TVQ stats...and all the letters,
They saw the feedback mood go up: Mulderless ratings -- they got better!
From Fox Marketing to far front office, rang a shout through 1013
They did not require Duchovney to keep the series on the screen!

Renewed for a ninth season? sobbed the Barbie shipperdom!
They clutched their Little Barbie hearts and smacked their cherry Bubbleyum,
But what a Barbie shipper wants, they said, a Barbie shipper gets,
And they took a Barbie oath against the scribes of Doggett fics.

But the more the pink brigade protested, the more fans of firmer stead,
Saw Mulder/Scully wasn't harmed by potential Doggett/Scully plots ahead,
For they'd had their tonsil hockey, and their apparent Mulder foal,
And we'd all remind the Barbieshippers, THIS IS A GODDAMNED TV SHOW!

Doggett/Scully fan fic writers became pariah in their eyes,
And they held us up for scorn, but through it all to their surprise,
We embraced it as an honor to be so hated by these shippers,
And we taunted them along with cries like "win one for the Dippers!"

But the kiss confirmed their truth, they said, the baby must be Mulder's,
And the plot twist had been wrought not in the Dish but under covers.
But if the Barbieshippers had just stayed awake through freshman biochemistry,
They'd know the beast from Mulder's pants could ne'er explain young
William's mystery.

Beside all the UST with all the silly fannish factions,
The X-Files mythos stands despite mere chemical attractions,
There are more important things in this beloved cultural meme,
And more things in Carter's plan than Barbieshipperdom can dream.

For there is no real X-Files, this is all just make-believe,
And what we wish to think has happened, is what we all can choose to see,
Robert, Gillian, and David work as actors for a living,
Instead of snarks we might say thanks for what they've given and are giving.

For somewhere in this fannish web the fun is still in sight;
Some of us go on creating, enrich our own and others' lives;
But pity the frothing shippers, with their berry lipgloss pouts,
Season 9 will still go forward -- Barbieshipper WILL strike out.

*SHODDS, "BarbieShipper", et al, the genius of Doggett's Bitch. I'm but
her humble songcatcher.

From what I can tell, this was posted to SHODDS in the darkest and most heated days of the hatred towards Robert Patrick/John Doggett/DSR. Discussions at this time were focused on who was listed on the Doggett/DSR Author hit list on some Doggett hater site. SHODDSters took pride in being included on the hit list, and even stopped by to sign the guestbook, some Doggett fans even signed said Doggett hater guestbook to thank them for providing a list of Doggett fanfic authors for them to find so they could read more new Doggett stories.

It was around this time that some craptastic BarbieFic was coming out of the woodwork in the fandom, mostly using Doggett's presence as a device to bash on the character/actor in immature and childish ways all the while writing sappy Mulder/Scully romance fanfic around the Doggett bashing.

It is - IMO - the lowest point in the history of the XF fandom. Looking back at the discussions going on around this time, and the actions of rabid 'shippers in the fandom (and their refusal to allow Doggett fanfic to be posted to major fanfic mailing lists/archives) I can't believe that I lived to survive all that bullshit (and somehow I can still enjoy TXF despite having been around so much negativity in the fandom - but I have SHODDS to thank for my sanity, they were able to weave negative flames, threats, and websites about Doggett/RP/DSR into something to laugh at and not to take too seriously).

If you are still subscribed to SHODDS on Yahoo!Groups, check out the message archives for June/July 2001 and you'll get a good whiff of what it was like to be a Doggett fan back in the day.

I think that D&R having something in the past (like a relationship) is just B.S. that DRR people made up to try to create something between John and Monica - simply because there isn't anything there and it's easier to create a relationship if there's something in the past to build it on.

I don't think that John would ever be able to be romantically involved with the woman who failed to solve his son's kidnapping/molestation/murder case. I don't think he'd ever be able to look at her and not think of the worst time in his life, and that she was unable to bring his son's kidnapper/molester and murderer to justice. And then when Doggett is actually investigating a very good, strong lead on his son's case, Reyes is there telling him to drop it. I don't know about you, but that just doesn't sing romantic relationship between the two of them.

If John really wants to put the past behind him I can imagine him forgiving her within himself, but also keeping her at a distance because of what I said above. I can imagine that he'd want to give her a second chance at proving herself as a capable agent, and perhaps that is why he figure out a magical way to have her assigned to the x-files unit, but it certainly was not for romantic reasons in any way, shape, or form.

Yeah, its true. There really is no way Reyes and Doggett would date after she failed him so bad on the case. I dont care about the reasons why she couldnt catch the killer, either. She failed at undercovering the conspiracy too.

And, they have ZERO chemistry and he would not want to be around a woman who reminds him of his son. But then him assigning her to be his partner is just bullshit too and thats just Chris Carters fault. It aint true to what Doggett would have done at the end of season 8.
