lol oh dear! mulder bossing krycek around "clean up my mess!" and krycek pretending mulder's fish went down the tub drain, that little devil! i love this frenemy relationship they have going on. immature dweebs (i love them). i mean who says "my fish and your fish can be fishy pals!"? lol mulder seems so innocent sometimes.

not a bad outing for a first attempt at writing on my own smile i still love this story

ok was thinking, how about we have a re-read "schedule"? have a list of eps to read by a certain day? would that maybe help keep us on track? lol

29 May 2016
106 "The Fish"
107 "Their Final Destination" (1/2)

30 May 2016
108 "Their Final Destination" (2/2)
109 "The Big Break"
110 "The Beating"

1 June 2016
111 "Walking Into the Starlight"
112 "The Karoke Bar"
113 "The Cruise"

that would conclude s1 smile then we can do the first three eps of season 2 on 3 june?

i just really want to skip the first four seasons to get to the good stuff, but kristi reminded me that the first four seasons sets up the FRVS world and is essential to understand character interactions and behaviours of characters that are ever-present in seasons 5-10.

Oooh just read Their Final Destination....cliffhanger! Love the banter between krycek and Mulder. Krycek is so funny with his attitude towards Mulder! Love him! I can see everything you write him saying!

"It took us a week to get here and we're only staying two days." Krycek mutters, as he turns his back to Mulder.

Lol. Love krycek muttering!

Re: FRVS Re-Read 2016/17 Chat Thread

Post by Cassiopeia on Tue 31 May 2016, 22:12

Their Final Destination
ahh! this was the episode inspired by the trip kristi and i took to roswell, NM in 2000 with our dad. we had so much fun there, we even went alien UFO hunting, and ran away from "the proper authorities"! good times. i'd love to go back.

lol i love that krycek tries to come off as this big badass, but can still be 'bullied' into going on a week long road trip with mulder, even after mulder bursts into (breaks in?) his apartment!

and again with the boys falling asleep in cars!

if this episode had been written anytime after season 4, we would have gone through the process of actually writing mulder and krycek seeing cows, getting a flat tire, and alex getting arrested for hitting on a cop!

hahaha! mulder calls krycek "buddy"

awwww! it's so cute! mulder asking krycek to take his picture by the city limit sign! that's adorable!

yes, krycek muttering to himself about mulder is perfection smile

lol i love that krycek carefully examines the crash site map and says they're missing one!

ok, so they spent 4 hours at the UFO museum. for what it's worth, one can actually spend that much time in there and not get bored. i think that was how long kristi, my dad, and i were there. maybe 5 hours, i know it was over 3 for sure.

ah! mulder's famous in roswell!!! i forgot about that!

i think krycek is jealous that mulder is famous in roswell. i think deep down, krycek wants to be famous in roswell too.

(i bought a glow-in-the-dark XF tshirt at the Southwest Alien store in roswell smile )

sneak into hangar 84, and krycek dangles the keys to the hangar. what gives, he just happens to have the keys to the hangar on his keychain? or did alex figure out mulder was planning a trip to roswell, and secretly krycek was excited to go there too?

you know, alex rolls his eyes at mulder about crawling around, but he joins him without too much hesitation lol

Their Final Destination 2
first of FRVS smoking man! and quite honestly i don't remember my opinion of him in FRVS, i think he's a bad guy, but maybe kinda sorta, but yes. weird, how when i haven't touched or looked at FRVS in years how some small details can be forgotten.

(it's fun doing this re-read)

it's funny, i think up to this point we really haven't seen much of scully at all. but FRVS did start out originally called "The Adventures of Fox and Alex", when we decided to go ahead and commit to doing a virtual series, that's when we changed the name and added more characters.

MULDER: "Screw Skinner!"
SCULLY: "Ok!" (she hangs up)

my pre-DSR 'ship is showing!

oh geez! the hotel owner comes in and mulder jumps into bed with his gun drawn to pretend like he's sleeping! yeah, like the owner didn't see you, mulder. smh

"Sir, did you know it's a crime to impersonate a Federal Agent?"

oops! krycek should have double checked which ID he pulled out.

so krycek gets arrested, and mulder gets a free convertible... hmm.

The Big Break
lol krycek has a bunk bed! oh man! mr. badass has a bunk bed!

i have a feeling that when krycek comes home he's not going to be happy with this "big break" in his apartment wall...

FROHIKE: He's banging someone.
LANGLY: Find out who.
FROHIKE: Who?
MULDER: What do you mean 'who?' I'm banging the wall.
FROHIKE: The wall?!?

we hear langly and byers in the b.g. making 'oh yuk' noises

ok i just had a good laugh over that bit! lol

Mean's Restaurant = comes from the MLM character Lara Means played by mine and kristi's favorite actress, kristen cloke morgan smile

gah! a blind date with one of the Magazine Girls!
(for FRVS, the Magazine Girls are like the precursor to leyla harrison, obnoxious girls, but we came up with them long before TXF came up with their leyla harrison character)

ok, so mulder tore down the wall between his and krycek's apartment basically so he could have a roommate... yeah, that's going to go over well.

OMG! seriously! the mental image of sexy, cool, badass krycek in dark red silk boxer shorts, jumping and leaping into bed (when he thinks no one is watching) is making my sides hurt.

is it bad to laugh at your own comedy? because, if it is, i don't care, that's funny!

KRYCEK: Where's my bed?
MULDER: In our bedroom.

i have no words, this is hilarious! crackup AND HE GOT HIM A TEDDY BEAR!

lol i love that krycek went over to scully, marita, and skinner's home (apartment?), and thinks they're normal people. but i guess more normal that being back at his apartment, sharing a bedroom with mulder.

you'll see soon how we FRVSized scully, marita, and skinner wink

The Beating
hmm, this episode feels (at least in the first scene) as if it should have come before the previous episode. i wonder if we accidentally placed it wrong after all these years, or if it was just a miscommunication btwn kristi and i while writing... probably the latter. we didn't have any writer meetings back then, and no series bible, we were a bit messy.

aw! scully put her own nameplate on mulder's desk! you go girl! *snaps*

AH! krycek has been assigned as the new agent mulder will work with! uh oh! this can only mean more mischief and trouble!

oh wait! scully is krycek's partner? why don't i remember that? mulder an assistant! poor guy!

i bet this is the first fist fight of many. and just think, after work, they have to go home to each other now, with the apartment wall being torn down and all.

Walking Into The Starlight
pre-read: i think i remember this episode as being kind of trippy.

dang, kristi! typos! lol we obviously needed to spell check/typo check before uploading these stories! oops! i'd do it now, but i'm too lazy.

"It's not my fault." - Mulder <--- Star Wars nod?

awww, krycek shows up to save them from the witch. and i guess krycek can't possibly admit to not being 'bad' lol those boys are always fighting with each other (must be love!)

The Karaoke Bar

lol cardboard box, back in the day we went by That Mirror Was Modest Productions, and our motto was "we're not going to live in a cardboard box!" (if there was a title screen for TMWMP it would have been like the 1013 kid saying "i made this!"). so anytime a FRVS character is inside a box, or moving things inside a cardboard box, it was a little nod to That Mirror Was Modest Productions.

LOL the Rice Krispy trick here, IIRC, was pulled from an actual Rice Krispy treat commercial where a guy put the sticky treat on his hand on a train car, and maybe lost his arm. i tried searching YouTube for this, but nothing came up. weird that ppl actually upload old commercials to YouTube lol

note: later in FRVS krycek has both arms, we used his prosthetic here as a gimmick for physical humor

GAH! skinner was going to propose to scully?!?! i so did not remember that! awww, skinner and scully want to let ppl know about their relationship wub i do love that 'ship! when we began writing FRVS, skinner/scully was my OTP! it's my backup OTP now, with regard to scully (on the actual xf series).

i think krycek likes to pretend/think that he can hold his liquor...

lol holy crap! "no way skin mannn. you know i press buttonnn..." lol ok, so we carried *that* into FRVS! haha!

*winces* and krycek selects a whitney houston song to sing to top it off! lol i'm embarrassed for marita!

ack! adorable! mulder offers to dance with marita to save her the embarrassment! omg! i might FRVS 'ship that right now!

The Cruise

ummm... whose credit card are the gunmen using to purchase cruise tickets?

LOL Krycek yelling at mulder and langley to stop making canonballs in the pool because of his hair! oh his vanity is starting to show again!

drenched, shirtless krycek... um, yes please!

lol it's mulder's 30th birthday (in FRVS, the characters are younger than their ages on TXF at the same time).

oh no! the magazine girls return! poor krycek! ack! cliffhanger! (a silly, uneventful cliffhanger, but we needed smthg to 'make the readers come back' lol)

end season 1. onto season two on 9 June smile

lol for most of these early episodes/seasons, full attention is not required. like how the XF official FB page did, do you want me to mark the episodes as "essentials"? i think i have enough memory of the episodes (maybe not all the details) to remember which ones are important to remember smile

re-reading is making me miss writing these characters so much too. FRVS, most of the time, was so easy to write because the characters that exist in my head took over the story and i was just the pen/keyboard conduit.

Joining the discussion for the first time here blush I actually liked the first couple of seasons more than the "mythology" seasons. The episodes were short and the stories were so random and goofy. I remember laughing non stop while reading the early episodes.

cheer tapdance

Welcome to the discussion!
The first seasons of FRVS were sooooooo easy to write. I think those characterizations of Mulder and Krycek (especially) lived inside mine and Kristi's heads for a long time, and found their conduit with TXF characters. Even I laugh at the randomness of the episodes, and the silly situations that 'the boys' got themselves into.

the 'mythology' seasons/episodes were a lot more difficult to tackle, FRVS became a whole other beast, so to speak, when we decided to do the FRVS version of the mythology. we decided to tackle that ourselves when we figured chris carter would never actually finish telling his story, and we wanted conclusion smile we did do our best to inject some of that 'early season humor' into those mythology eps if we could find a way to make a scene appropriate for them (which was so hard to do!).

are you re-reading season 1 episodes now to catch up? if yes, let me know, i was going to do my comments for the first eps of season 2 tonight, but i can hold off until y'all catch up smile

I could totally read between the lines how much fun you were having writing the first seasons. There was something about the light-heartedness of those stories and that setting that was so appealing. And I've always thought that Scully and Skinner made quite a pair.

Right now, I'm on season two. I've skimmed through season one eps, and it's amazing how much I actually remember from it. biggrin

Summary: Continuation of "The Cruise". What will happen with The Magazine Girls? Will Krycek be saved by a miracle?

read it here:
http://frvs.scorpionhq.com/S2/2x01.html

haha! mulder trying to be all so serious in the opening monologue! "we thought this was the end, our nice voyage to hawaii ruined by something far worse than we could ever imagine..." LOL

LOL, smh, rain saves them from the Magazine Girls! and then we're back to normally scheduled FRVS (after they accidentally fling themselves overboard!) guess the MGs didn't make too much of a disruption!

LOL scully and marita making fun of the MGs! "My hair!" "My makeup!" LOL (i always visually see/hear that like when in "Friends" Monica and Phoebe make fun of Rachel and her friends - s1 i think it is)

*SQUEEEE* my Skinner/Scully (Scunner!) is showing in this episode! They're engaged! wub they were so my OTP back in the day!

and Skinner calls her "Turtle" tapdance

ummm... Mulder *AND* Krycek are reenacting "Titanic"...? at least they didn't kiss wink

crackup oh mulder and the pull the tablecloth off the table trick! "well, guess that didn't work, now did it?" hehe!

awww, scully gave mulder a locket (think he wears it?) with a pic of him and samantha in it smile

back in the early FRVS days, episodes seem to end rather abruptly, don't they?

Summary: Since Mulder knocked down the wall between his apartment and Krycek's last season ... some rules need to be made so they can live together in peace ... but will it work?

read it here:
http://frvs.scorpionhq.com/S2/2x02.html

AH! SYNDICATE X!

for those who don't know, Syndicate X was a role playing group on egroups/Yahoo!Groups back in the day (maybe livejournal), and it was basically silly ridiculous, yet totally R/NC17 pervy group. One of the RPGers went on to write a few episodes of FRVS, we named Mulder and Krycek's favorite TV show after the role playing group, just for kicks and giggles.

MSK is the 'network' that "Syndicate X" aired on in FRVS, but in RL the MSK group was a mailing list group calld Mulder/Scully/Krycek group - another nod to our friend, Gingfox, who was the creator of the Syndicate X group.

MSK group had a mascot, a rat, we called him Ratkin

ahahaha! a knock at TXF series "The Sex-Files", this was around the era when it was suggested that Mulder and Scully hooked up in "all things" and ppl were obsessed with the opening scene of that episode claiming it was proof of the mulder/scully sexing. I forgot just how close to the Doggett years we were with TXF when FRVS began.

actually, and this has nothing to do with "Ground Rules" the episode, but we wrote FRVS John Doggett scenes before season 8 of "The X-Files" aired in the USA, we guessed at his character to get him onto FRVS before TXF aired. seasons 1 and 2 of FRVS both took place during 1999, by season 3, i think we aired the first doggett FRVS episode in October 2000, before the 5 November season 8 XF premiere :) So does this mean FRVS "had" Doggett first? OMG I sure think so!

(granted we had rough copies of the original shooting scripts for 'within' and 'without' in which doggett hadn't been named yet, and carter was calling him 'agent white')

FYI, you can read all the Ground Rules of mulder and Krycek on their website: http://frvs.scorpionhq.com/foxandalex/ - just click on "ground rules" - some of the rules listed on their list might be spoilery for future eps of FRVS, but only if you know what's going on, out of context, they're just random dialog on that website.

*giggles* krycek drank pickle juice! ewww!

i love that their video playback device is a VCR, that certainly dates these early episodes!

anytime you see a reference to 25 April, that's a nod to the original USA air date of TXF ep "The Unnatural" (25 April 1999). i love that episode so much!

*snort giggles*

"This isn't a marriage, Krycek." - Mulder

FWIW, up to rule #163 on that website up there (and here: http://frvs.scorpionhq.com/foxandalex/) includes 'cut dialog' of the other rules added, within the timeline of this episode.

lol i apologize again for typos, we didn't proof read episodes before putting them up, and don't have time to go through them all again. we usually typed these up on several cans of mountain dew (caffeinated beverage), late at night/early in the mornings. swapping the computer keyboard back and forth while having giggle fits as we typed. shy

read it here:

aw hell! krycek shot marita!

dear god! the use of krycek's prosthetic arm is hilarious!

so yeah, sometimes things from the original XF series sneak into FRVS, like the Lazarus bowl from "Hollywood AD"... i always liked adding small XF hints like that into episodes smile

but Mulder's using it for his potatoe salad? weirdo!

ewwww! the lazarus bowl incantation brought the meat in the salad back to life!?! at least mulder had the sense to agree with marita and pass on eating it!

That was some of the most random, screwed-up stuff I have read chicken dance

Krycek reminds me of Lenny from the Simpsons: "My eye! I'm not supposed to get feathers in it!"

If only Krycek were on Star Wars, he could have got a robot arm :(

LOL Star Wars!

One of the things Kristi and I wanted to do was to go back through all FRVS episodes s1-s10 (and our "movies") and make sure that there was at least one Star Wars reference in each episode. I'm like 99% certain that every episode in the final season has some kind of SW reference, be it obvious or subtle smile

FWIW, I think krycek would love a robot arm! If only Star Wars were real for him... if only (poor Krycek!)
