If Mulder hadn't returned from the dead, who do you think would have made the first move to get the Doggett/Scully relationship underway?

John Doggett - but it would have taken him awhile since he would want Dana to grieve and heal from her loss.

Dana Scully - after healing from her loss she would have been the one to reach out and grab onto life again, and in realizing John's feelings for her, she'd discover her's for him and ask him out.

Walter Skinner - he would have set them up on a blind date.

Monica Reyes - after a failed attempt to ask Dana out on a date herself, she would have come to realize just how much John and Dana mean to each other and she would have talked to the both of them and told them not to hold back from loving again.

Fox Mulder - his ghost would have haunted both John and Dana and he would tell them (from beyond the grave) that he approves of them being together and to stop dodging around and go out on a date already.

I voted for "Dana Scully", for me, her being the one to take the next step after losing someone she loved, is the only realistic way this could have (and should have) happened.

I dunno, I went for Doggett.

I think he would have used his confidence and his love within him to overpower any doubts or fears and done something about it. He only got so secretive about his feelings cause Mulder came back.

I think he would have been laid back and cool with her. I think he would have given her time, but I think he would have talked to her, taken her out and tried to let her see him as a man she should be with...

...Then one night, after a coffee after work, feeling turned on and overflowing with love, she would wither away from him, afraid of her love for him, he would grab her arm as she tried to walk away and he would pull her to him....and kiss her in a way she has never been kissed in her whole life. The whole kiss would tell her how he feels about her and she would melt in his arms and there would be no turning back!!!

Gaaaaah! You need to write fanfic, Claudine! I read this and I need more of it (more description, more everything)!

I love your scenario in which Doggett would be the one to make the first move! wub cheer

That tiny little monkey really made me laugh just now! haha It really caught me off guard.

And I voted that Scully would make the first move. I imagine Doggett being apprehensive and careful around her because he wouldn't want to push her. He'd be there for her, of course, but he'd let her have the space and time she needed. Then, when she was ready, she would see the great guy in front of her and the rest would be history. :)

I love that monkey! I think it's the funniest and cutest smilie we've got! monkey dance

I think you are right about Doggett being apprehensive around her, I also think that he would be wondering how much time was enough time for someone to get over the loss of a loved one, as he himself isn't really over losing his own son after all these years. He would definitely be there for her and allow her time to heal and maintain a close friendship with her (probably in the hope that one day they'd be together). He's respectful like that, wait until she is ready and then let destiny take its course.

But what if he is too patient? And she thinks he is not interested? blink

That's a good question. But I think Scully is fully aware of his feelings for her and vice versa before Mulder is found in that field. I don't think that's something she would have to question, but you're right, she might take his patience as a lack of interest.

Hmmm, yes if he kept showing her in some ways how he is there for her whilst he is waiting for her. Thats fine.

But i duno, i think sometimes the woman wants the man to make the 1st move, show her he is the man and she is wanted.
